The Synco Mic-D1 is a battery-/phantom-powered shotgun microphone featuring a hyper-cardioid polar pattern to deliver sharpened frontal focus and side rejection compared to super-cardioid shotguns, allowing it to capture clear, quality dialogue and sound effects for independent filmmakers, videographers, and broadcasters as well as vloggers and YouTubers.

The microphone’s XLR output and included XLR cable enable standardized hookup to mic preamps, mixers, and a variety of portable audio recorders, while the supplied XLR to 3.5mm cable is optimal for connecting the Mic-D1 to a mirrorless camera or DSLR. It can be operated via 48V phantom power or a single AA battery (available separately), which allows up to 100 hours of run time.

With strong sensitivity and high maximum SPL handling, the Mic-D1 provides a robust distortion-free signal. Its circuit offers a switchable 180 Hz high-pass filter designed to reduce problematic low-frequency signals such as rumble. The lightweight body is constructed from CNC-machined brass for improved resistance to interference and durability. The matte black finish reduces reflectivity to ensure visual discretion during video shoots.

Tight Sound Pickup

Whereas traditional shotgun mics use super-cardioid polar patterns, the Mic-D1 utilizes a hyper-cardioid pickup pattern to provide even tighter frontal focus, more attenuation at the sides, and slightly increased rear pickup, making it an ideal choice for recording in indoor or outdoor environments.

The Mic-D1’s circuit employs a switchable 180 Hz high-pass filter to attenuate common sources of low-frequency buildup such as rumble, allowing its tone to complement sound effects as well as dialogue.

Battery or Phantom Powered

The Mic-D1 is compliant with 48V phantom powering for use with field recorders, external mic preamps, and professional camcorders. Alternatively, a single AA battery (available separately) can power the Mic-D1 for up to 100 hours when using the mic with devices that don’t supply phantom power—mirrorless cameras, DSLRs, and passive mixer adapters.

XLR Output and Multiple Cables

The balanced 3-pin XLR output features gold-plated contacts to improve conductivity and maintain the integrity of your signal. Use the included XLR cable to connect the Mic-D1 to a preamp that can supply 48V phantom power or opt for the supplied XLR to 3.5mm cable to plug the Mic-D1 directly into a camera or portable audio recorder that doesn’t provide phantom power.

Ideal for Boompole Mounting

Lightweight and just over 11″ long, the Mic-D1 is well suited for use on a boom pole or mic stand. It includes a mic holder with 5/8″ and 3/8″ options for mounting versatility.

Windscreen Minimizes Wind Noise

The Mic-D1 includes a foam windscreen to reduce unwanted wind noise from breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners.
