The Mercury Elite Pro Thunderbolt 3 Dock from OWC / Other World Computing will help you organize your digital life. With dual drive bays and multiple connectivity options, you’ll have plenty of room to duplicate footage, create and manage archives, or render and process effects.
OWC built this dock with two SATA III drive bays that can accommodate 3.5″ hard drives, as well as 2.5″ hard drives and SSDs. Compatible with macOS 10.14 and later, Windows 10 and later, and Windows Server 2016, connectivity options include two 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt 3 ports, each of which deliver up to 27W (9V / 3A) of power, two 5 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one DisplayPort 1.2 port for a 4K display, one Gigabit Ethernet port, and one UHS-II SD card reader. While one of the Thunderbolt 3 ports is used to interface with your host system, the other can be used to connect additional peripherals.
The Mercury Elite Pro also supports hardware RAID configurations of RAID 0, which provides performance but no data redundancy, and RAID 1, which provides data redundancy at the cost of performance. For those who do not require a RAID, JBOD and SPAN are available. JBOD lets each drive be used independently, while SPAN combines each individual drive into one large volume. While no drives are included, the default configuration is RAID 0.
Please note that this device must be connected to your host system using Thunderbolt 3 and cannot be used as a NAS. The Ethernet port provides the computer with a network connection over Thunderbolt 3, but cannot be used to access data on the drives over the network.
General Features
Configure to Your Unique Needs
You can customize the Mercury Elite Pro Dock to quickly adapt to project changes and help you stay ahead of deadlines. Install your choice of 2.5″ or 3.5″ HDDs or SSDs, and even combine the speed of a SSD and with the cost-effective storage capacity of a HDD. With a built-in hardware RAID, you have four drive set-up choices:
- Non-RAID (JBOD) to keep the drives as independent volumes
- RAID 1 (mirror) for backup reliability
- RAID 0 (stripe) for optimal performance and maximum speed or use
- Span to combine the drive capacities into one huge volume for extra-large storage capacities
Full Stream Ahead
The Mercury Elite Pro Dock features a 1Gb Ethernet port to keep you connected at speeds that leave Wi-Fi in the dust. A must-have for shared workflows and workspaces, Ethernet connectivity speeds up file transfers giving you an edge on your work in progress.
Professional Grade = Ready to Work
We understand having confidence in gear reliability is paramount to creative professionals. That’s why every Mercury Elite Pro Dock configured solution undergoes OWC’s multi-hour drive “burn-in” performance certification procedure prior to shipping. This helps ensure it arrives operating properly and immediately ready for demanding use.
Disconnect In One Click
Available from OWC as a free download, their Dock Ejector software safely disconnects drives in a single click. Designed by OWC hardware and software engineers, Dock Ejector ensures all data is written before disconnection, saving time and protecting against data loss. Use it to move quickly between workstations and get the most out of your OWC Dock.
Data Transfer Rates via Thunderbolt 3
Using Thunderbolt 3, SSDs deliver read speeds of up to 773 MB/s and write speeds of up to 678 MB/s. When using hard drives, read speeds max out around 493 MB/s and write speeds can reach as high as 497 MB/s.
Note: Speeds will vary based on drives used, RAID configurations, and other factors.
