With the Thunder3 Dock Pro from Akitio, you can connect to an external display, storage drives, wireless networks, and more, all by running a single cable to your system’s Thunderbolt 3 port. This dock comes equipped with three USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, two Thunderbolt 3 ports over USB Type-C, one DisplayPort 1.2 output, one eSATA host port, one CFast 2.0 card reader, SD 4.0 card reader, and one Gigabit Ethernet port.
This docking station supports up to 4K resolution for an immersive viewing experience when connected to a 4K monitor. Aside from being multimedia hub, the Thunder3 Dock Pro has an integrated cooling fan to ensure it won’t overheat when in use. Additionally, this dock can provide up to 60W thanks to its built-in Power Delivery technology.
Thunderbolt 3
Thunderbolt 3 brings Thunderbolt to USB Type-C at speeds up to 40 Gb/s, which creates a compact port that transfers files, supports video, and supplies power to bus-powered devices. The Thunder3 Dock Pro operates the same as a Thunderbolt 3 computer port by supporting Thunderbolt 3 (up to 5 daisy-chained), 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2, and DisplayPort devices.
eSATA Host Port
This port can be used to connect an external storage drive with an eSATA interface to your Thunderbolt 3 computer. The eSATA port can function as a port multiplier and can recognize more than just one disk in a multi-bay enclosure without a RAID controller. The maximum data transfer rate for the eSATA port is about 370 MB/s.
USB 3.1 Gen 1 Hub
The three USB 3.1 Gen 1 host ports make it easy to connect your USB devices that come with a Type-A connector to your Thunderbolt 3 computer. Instead of buying an adapter or new cables, simply plug your existing USB devices into the Thunder3 Dock Pro and you are all set. The maximum data transfer rate for the USB hub is 5 Gb/s (about 370 MB/s).
10 GbE Ethernet Port
The network interface is ideal for desktop computers and laptops that require reliable and accelerated access to external storage or networks for I/O demanding applications. This 10 GbE network adapter also supports auto-negotiation for 10 Gb/s, 5 Gb/s, 2.5 Gb/s, 1 Gb/s, and 100 MB/s.
DisplayPort
The dedicated DisplayPort connector can be used to connect an additional monitor to extend your system’s display without the need to buy an additional USB Type-C to DisplayPort adapter. This video output capability will free up the second Thunderbolt 3 port for other devices.
CFast 2.0 & SD 4.0 card reader
The built-in card reader for your CFast and SD cards is located conveniently at the front of the Thunder3 Dock Pro, which allows you to easily insert and remove cards to back up your media files after a photo or video shoot. The maximum data transfer rate for the card reader is about 370 MB/s.
Power Delivery (60W)
The Thunder3 Dock Pro supports Power Delivery, which provides up to 60W to devices and laptops that are compliant with 20V/3A charging, such as the MacBook Pro (Late 2016). Depending on your needs, you can use either the 60W or the 15W port to connect the Thunder3 Dock Pro to your computer and then use the second port to recharge other devices.
